How to start selling on Shopify?

Hertwill’s Shopify app makes it easy to add high-quality dropshipping products from European brands to your store. Here's the step-by-step guide on how to get started.

1. Install the Hertwill app: Log into your Shopify store and install the Hertwill app from the Shopify App Store.

2. Log in to Hertwill: Visit Hertwill and log in using the same email address or Google account linked to your Shopify account. Ensure you're using the email associated with your Shopify store. If you have multiple stores, go to the My Stores in Hertwill and select the store where you want to add products.

3. Browse products from the Hertwill catalog and add them to your Import List. All prices are wholesale. Hertwill stocks the items and handles the shipping, so you don’t need a warehouse or to deal with deliveries.

4. Sync products to your store: Press the Sync button in your Import List to add products to your store. Products are synced in draft status by default. To make a product appear in your store, do the following:

  • Make the product active.
  • If your store is new, ensure you've set up your markets in Shopify: go to Settings -> Shipping and Delivery. Add the product to the market and publish it.

Hertwill's free plan allows you to sync up to 5 products to your store. If you want to add more, upgrade to one of our paid plans—all monthly plans are just €1 for the first month.

5. Automatic stock synchronization: Hertwill automatically sync product quantities with your store, so you don’t need to adjust stock settings.

If your product appears as “Out of Stock” on the storefront but shows stock in Shopify admin, it’s likely because the Hertwill location is not added to your Shopify shipping profiles. To fix this:

  • Go to your Shopify settings.
  • Navigate to Shipping and Delivery.
  • Ensure that the Hertwill location is included in your shipping profiles.
  • This should resolve the issue and update your product availability.

6. Update your Shopify store settings

  • Order Fulfillment Settings: Enable automatic fulfillment to send orders to Hertwill automatically. Go to Shopify Settings -> General -> Order Processing and check the box next to ‘Automatically fulfill the order’s line items’.
  • Collect Phone Numbers During Checkout: Logistics companies require a phone number for order delivery. To make this field mandatory in your Shopify store, go to Settings → Checkout and set ‘Shipping address phone number’ to Required. Note: The phone number will only be used for delivery purposes.

7. Paying for orders:

  • Go to the billing section of your Hertwill account and add your bank card information. We charge you for each order before shipping it out. If your bank card isn’t added, we won’t be able to fulfill your order.
  • If you're operating as a company and want to be invoiced accordingly, enter your company details here.

8. Order fulfillment: Once you make a sale, we’ll automatically receive the order and take care of fulfillment, including packaging and shipping.

  • Delivery Times: Delivery times depend on the destination and product; most orders are delivered within 3-8 working days in the EU.
  • Order Statuses, Tracking Numbers, and Invoices: You can find all order details, including tracking numbers and invoices, in the Orders section of your Hertwill account.
  • Customer Support & Returns: If you or your customers have any questions, or if a customer wants to cancel, exchange, or return an item, email us at hello@hertwill.com.

9. Cancellation Requests:

  • If the order hasn’t been accepted for fulfillment yet, cancel it directly in your Shopify admin.
  • If fulfillment has already been requested but not yet completed on Hertwill’s end, submit a "cancel fulfillment request" in your Shopify admin. We’ll accept it, and you’ll see the cancellation status in your store.
  • If the order is already marked as completed in Hertwill, cancellation requests will be declined. You’ll see a message in your Shopify admin explaining why.
